Adding Integers

Here's the most basic of rules:

The sum of 2 positive numbers = positive

5 + 2 = 7

The sum of 2 negative numbers = negative

-7 + -1 = -8

But you do need to watch the values of the numbers when adding a positive and a negative number.

4 + -1 = 3

4 + -8 = -4
